Native forest margins. Adults recorded March, July, and September-December.

Life history 7

Foodplant: Senecio heterophylla, Senecio hispidulus found throughout NZ in lowland to montane forest margins. Mine: narrow, serpentine, close to upper epidermal layer, widening terminally, frass deposited medially. Larva have been recorded from April to September and in November and December. They are 3–4 mm long and pale green. Cocoon: made of brown silk, against stem of foodplant. (HD&CW, 1989)
