Chased this one down it was hard to get a good picture of it

Just landed in my back yard. Seems quite late in year

West Branch Trail at Laramie River crossing. Rawah Wilderness. Temperature was high 40s.

Butterfly perched in my backyard; white "comma" on underside of wings (see second picture)

Seen exploring newly emerged milkweed.

One of three seen in a small area, along with one C. sheridanii.

A lovely but lonely butterfly hanging on into late fall, near treeline on the Ice Lakes trail. It was perching on dried flower stalks and fluttering around a sunny meadow.

Found along the Glenwood canyon bike trail on a dead milkweed plant. Given it was only about 40 deg and snow should be falling anytime now his prospects look grim.

Saw this at Carlsbad Caverns in NM today. Book says it's a rare vagrant in south Texas only, but here it is in southeast NM.
