Flipped the board and there he was. Didn’t go back for a pic. Reporting because this is directly next to a new housing development and I’m sure kids will be playing in these fields (where there are sensitive vernal pool areas).

H. grisea seems to be a match, but I'm not sure if there's other local species similar.

Description
This one has forgotten his/her lichen pyjamas...on a very grey, rainy day, in a break in the rain, I noticed a straw-coloured scrap of forest matter on the fence and thought I'd better check it out. In the gloom I couldn't see what it was but thought maybe a different case-moth from usual, so I snapped two photos anyway as it began to rain...when I looked on the computer, I was thrilled and rushed back outside in the rain to see if it was still there, but it had gone, so no chance of better photos. Really glad to see this one as it means these fascinating beetles are still here.

Grabbed by a White Ibis in the lawn. Bad photos -- shooting through glass. The ibis flock spooked, and this bird flew off with the snake in its bill.

An extremely rare species, I've been hoping to see it for ages. I only know of 4 sightings in WA in the past 40-odd years. All of the records on ALA are from the eastern states as well, and most of the records here are from further east or south. According to Slipinskis' paper on Lamiinae only pentheoides is present in WA. I'm super excited to finally have found this species!

This is the first known specimen of ridgenose rattlesnake from the Peloncillo Mtns. This snake was given to me by NM Game and Fish, as I was studying obscurus on a grant from them at the time. This was a gravid female that delivered six offspring some months after capture.
