This is a first for my backyard count. My mother and I found this guy on my Rose of Sherron bush on the night of the 29th. These are one of my newer lady beetles. They do look like they have been stabbed as the name implies with the dark red spots on the wing coverts. This was a very interesting to observe. I didn't know we got these here. I live in the DFW area for reference. I just love seeing new forms of insects. I have seen these on a few of my friends iNaturalist pages and in online photos but this is the first time I have seen these in person. I have been looking for these for quite sometime. They are very dark in color with the two blood marks. A very interesting beetle.

At least I think that this is a lady beetle nymph. If it is, then I don't know to what species it belongs. Any help with identification would be greatly appreciated. Single individual observed on leaf of Asclepias viridis. 76F, mostly cloudy, humid. There was intermittent rain this day.

Happy Halloween! Here's a woodhouse toad that found its way into our conservatory. We don't purposely bring them in or care for them here so it's not a captive one, despite showing up indoors often. The snake it's sitting on is a model. (I put the flowers on its head for the photo and then took them off. It didn't mind at all.)
