Description
Two black-tailed jackrabbits came tearing down the Adobe Creek Trail toward me and I had just enough time to leap out of the way as a coyote raced past me at top speed (about 2 feet away from me). At the fork in the road, the two rabbits took off in different directions and the coyote tore after one, running past several other hikers and a jogger (images 5, 6). The woman jogger in image 5 and 6 had no idea a coyote was racing up behind her because he was going so fast. Image 5 shows the signs "Announce yourself when passing" and "Speed Limit 15" The coyote ignored both. Fortunately for them, the rabbits escaped. Just read that both coyotes and black-tailed jackrabbits can run up to 40 mph.

I believe this is a white Greater Roadrunner we saw at Jim Hogg Park in Georgetown Texas. It was quite interesting to see. I couldn't quite get close enough to see if it's eyes were red or not, but I believe they were not even though it was nearly all white. We got to follow it for some time and I know from many observations what a roadrunner acts and looks... and this appears to be a white one! Anyone else seen one like this?
