All of these passionflower leaves are on the SAME vine! At first I thought the yellow leaf was a birdwing passionflower but most of the rest of the leaves look like a yellow passionflower. Yellow passionflowers are WAY more common in this area in my experience.

Several plants were found just inside the fence-line north of Power-line Pond. Part sun, sandy loam soil. Associated plants: Cynodon dactylon, Bromus catharticus, Oenothera speciosa, Callirhoe involucrata.

Exploring some unfamiliar Milam county roads for possible clues and enlightenment about location sites for the BRIT georeferencing project.
Made some observations in the church yard near the Sand Grove Cemetery.

I found a pair of diving ducks just downstream from the dam. One was obviously a female Bufflehead but I haven't been able to identify the other. Could it be a female Black Scoter? Or a slightly different Bufflehead?

This is apparently a very recent arrival in the Austin area. It is not listed by Carr in his Feb. 2023 edition of the "Travis County Flora". There are observations in the Greater Austin area in Caldwell County (Lockhart, 2019) and Hays County (San Marcos, 2022), but the first observation in the Austin area was only last year.
Bill Carr (pers. comm.) tells me that it is a fairly common garden plant in Austin but he had not heard of it escaping previously. So I went back to the spot and collected this waif and will forward the pressed specimen to the Univ. of Texas Herbarium.

I uncovered this single plant while yanking bedstraw out of the habitat.

The site is in deep loamy soil on a creek bank in a shaded riparian corridor. The main bulb had at least a dozen small bulblets around it. I tried to retrieve all of them, but it's easy to see how this species can propagate easily on its own.
