Northeast San Antonio. Assumed this was a Pipevine Swallowtail from far away but on closer inspection, realized it is the much more uncommon Ruby-Spotted Swallowtail! This is a male, seen at 9:30 am, 16 May 2018. Larval hostplants are trees in the citrus (Rutaceae) family including Citrus, Casimiroa, Helietta, and Zanthoxylum species.

Arriving at home our neighbors across the street alerted us to the presence of a Bobcat in our front porch. On approaching the front door the Bobcat moved to our backyard and the greenbelt provided by Cooper Creek. But before dashing off into the leaf and tree cover downstream it sat for a bit and looked our way in which time we captured a few images.

Surprised to see this guy right off the bat. It almost seemed like spring was beginning when we haven't had a winter. I also heard alot of grasshoppers jumping but never found one to photograph
