In soil with Muehlenbeckia complexa but I expect the nearby Pinus radiata is the host. Tuber candida is recorded from west coast US with pinus and the description is similar. Sequenced Oregon collections of T. candida sit within the T. rufum complex (5/6 different species maybe according to current ITS data). This species was recorded from Christchurch in 2003 but no specimen lodged in a collection. The only other record dates back to 1941,
