First walk after the shift to Level 3, and this karearea flew up the ridge to settle on the stump in front of the top seat and check me out for a minute or two. One of two.

Mason wasp egg on a knobbled orb weaver (Eriophora pustulosa) that fell from a nest I inadvertently destroyed when I opened the hut window :-(

Fly caught on window. Body length c.15mm.
I think this fly mimics a pompilid wasp. It is similar in size, coloration and movements to a pompilid in another Naturewatch observation from 8/10/16 at Mt Tamahunga.
One spider seen on kiekie.

Rainbow skinks have been running up the wall today, and this one has been caught in the web of the spider.
The second photo was taken an hour later, and shows the spider trying to free the tail so that the skink can be pulled into the hole in the wall.
The space between the bricks is 10mm wide.
