Tingena compsogramma (Meyrick, 1920). Endemic. Locally uncommon.

A beautiful looking moth which displays considerable variation in the extent of the golden-orange markings as well as the depth of the ground colour.

Habitat, seasonality and behaviour 4

Adults appear from November to March and frequents native forest, noticeably at higher altitudes.

Tingena is the largest genus of Lepidoptera in New Zealand, with over 80 known species with many very similar (Hoare, 2014)
