Tingena plagiatella

OECOPHORIDAE: Concealer Moths 3

Tingena plagiatella (Walker, 1863). F.L. 7 mm. Endemic. Local.

Habitat, seasonality and behaviour 3

According to Hudson 1928 "The perfect insect appears from November until January, and is very common amongst light forest or scrub". I have caught a number of examples of this pretty moth at the edge of Coromandel native forest in manuka scrub at night.

Life history 3

According to Hudson (1928) "This species often occurs abundantly in gardens and plantations, where it seems to have a great liking for the foliage of Pinus insignis and Cupressus macrocarpa".
