Ischnochiton circumvallatus

Description 2

Small chiton 12 to 21mm long, 7 to 12mm wide. Smaller than the Variable Chiton, I. maorianus, but with less difference in size between the rear and front plates. Plates and skirt/girdle are buff with a green tinge through to a pale reddy-brown. Plates have subtle radial ridges, and fine growth ring type markings.

Distribution 2

South Island (south of Otago), Stewart Island, Snares Islands, Antipodes Islands, Auckland Islands and Campbell Islands.
