Lepas anserifera is very similar to L.anatifera (not just in name!), but identifiable by the short orange peduncle, and radial grooves on the shell surface.
This may not be found in NZ - still working that out!
Lepas anserifera is a species of goose barnacle or stalked barnacle in the family Lepadidae. It lives attached to floating timber, ships' hulls and various sorts of flotsam.
