What Good Shell Photos Should Have - Shell Only 2

If you are photographing "snail" type shells that do not have the animal in them, try and take photos of the following as seen in the first three photos above

  • top of the shell
  • bottom of the Shell
  • opening of the shell

It is also helpful to have a measurement - even a finger in the photo will help.

If you are photographing "snail" type shells that have the live animal try and get some of the animal as the colour can help with ID. The forth photo above is Bulla vernicosa and the last photo is Bulla quoyii
