Tesseropora rosea

About this 1

Known from the Kermadec Islands, Lord Howe Island, and eastern Australia.

This species has an interesting distribution. It was described from a single specimen from South Africa, where it appears to be rare. Two small populations have been reported from Western Australia but it is thought to have been introduced there (the paper suggested this may have been from eastern Australia in ballast water). I haven't been able to find any records of it from mainland New Zealand. It has been known from the Kermadecs since the early 1900s.

Its biology has been quite intensively studied in eastern Australia.
