Fritillaries flying and posing in this short stretch of flowery path buzzing with Field and Mylitta Crescents. The smaller butterflies rise to challenge every zerene that runs the gauntlet.
Some of these flutter along the ground; here and there landing and crawling into the litter to where we can see the host Dog Violets grow.
This one on vegetation. 20+ seen here today. Not nectaring. On a coolish windy day, they seemed to choose calmer warmer places to settle and patrol.
