So familiar to denizens of western Marin; vigorous and abundant to the extent that it provides a convenient source of excellent firewood. The Madrone is also seen in the psuedotsuga groves of coastal Washington state... although not really flourishing in the bitter winds of this coast. The specimens observed here are stunted and twisted. This one is unusually large.
