Green beetle seen laying outside of house, in the dirt near the dairy. Most active at night time, laying in the direct path of walking traffic even with interaction, probably due to their poor vision. It is very common to find them dead in the same area.
Sitting on a telephone pole for a long time while being bothered by crows, mockingbirds, and an insect.
A short perennial, growing in the shade of a large laurel sumac in a planter bed at Padua Park, Claremont, CA. Inflorescences with glandular hairs, white flowers. Photo taken with flash. Coin used for scale is a US quarter dollar (¢25 piece), 24.26 mm, 0.955 inch in diameter.
There are some native species planted at this park as landscaping plants, but I do not think this plant is ornamentally planted, given how awkward the placement would be under that assumption (right under a laurel sumac), and also due to the fact that I've not seen any other individuals of this species at the park. There are many (ornamentally planted) lemonade berry plants here, as well, with make me think birds likely frequent the area for fruit foraging, and may have a-pooped a currant seed at some point.
Wasn't too sure on what specific species, was kind of thin looking and let me get close to take pictures
