Description

Rather uncommon (and I have yet to see mature specimens). occasionaly saplings noted within the headwaters of the Kaipatiki and also on the margins of the gumland scrub.

Observed around five mature trees on island mainly in steep valleys, more common in habitat of Kauri forest than broadleaf forest. Also seen multiple seedlings.

Rare in dry grassland.

Fighting for space amongst all the weeds, particularly smooth catsear and exotic grasses.

This is the sad reality facing our native dryland plants - the stonefield/mossfields are very vulnerable to exotic plant invasion.
