This looks like a hybrid between Coprosma robusta and Coprosma propinqua.
John Staniland identified this as a Hybrid Coprosma of unknown parentage. I have grown similar comprosmas from seedling that come up in the garden which the local council officer has also suggested where hybrids.

Growing on alluvial terrace in Kaituna Valley Reserve. The stream flowing through the small reserve floods reasonably regularly, washing the forest floor clean, but soil appears to drain reasonably well.
Growing in a ditch through pasture.
