Please trust me- they are hard to photograph well.
Sacred kingfisher, Panmure Lagoon.
Flock of 200+ resting, preening, bathing & foraging on a shell island, outgoing tide.
An adult, surprisingly found gummed in the fruits of parapara (Pisonia brunoniana) (a first for me). Successfully repatriated.
Sadly another bird caught in our parapara (Pisonia brunoniana). Amazing, been monitoring bird catches from these trees and others in the neighbourhood for over 20 years and this is the first time that I have seen riroriro caught in parapara fruits. As before this bird was successfully cleaned of viscum and then released - it flew off and began singing in the parapara (go figure). Hopefully no more of these are caught please.
