Description

The whole of the river below the dam wall down to the bridge and beyond is filled with this very robust Carex. I had a specimen identified as C. polyantha by Sydney RBG a few years ago but I wonder now, given the size of these plants, c. 2m high, and 12mm wide leaves, if they are not the exotic C. pendula. Plumes of exotic grasses and sedges downstream from old construction sites are a bit of a developing theme in Kosciuszko NP unfortunately.
