This is a real unusual Banded Dotterel it has a red growth on the left side of it's face.
Any guess as to what it is ??
The bird was out the Waimakariri River mouth,

This is the first tūī (kōkō) we've ever seen in our garden, hence lots of photos!

Heard at night in the dark. Sounded like they were flying around between the trees while making the sound.

No sighting, just this recording. Sorry there's a few people talking in the background. But this is a Tūī, right?
