I found this organism on a tree bark on campus, it was a sunny day. Symbiotic form of life formed by a fungus and an algae/or cyanobacteria. Live in a lots of places, the clarity and quality of air affects the number of living lichen. The specie is defined by the form and the colour of leaves (reference Woodland trus)

Description

Visual Description: Lichen appears to look like an algae or fungus that is attached to the trunk of a palm tree. They would seem like they have a rough texture to them and they are brightly colored in which it is easy to see them.

Defining Characteristics: Their unique characteristic is the fact that since it's made up of fungi and algae, the algae carry out photosynthesis and the fungi absorbs water and minerals, they can adapt to diverse climates. These organisms are lichens.

Climate: Lichens are able to adapt to many different conditions due to the fact that they can absorb and lose water unlike plants.
