Mongolian plovers in front of flock of sandpipers
This pair is often found in front of monkey rock but we don't know where they nest, if they even do so.
This is our lonely guy, usually hanging out in north Piha.
Three NZ dotterel feeding on the reef.
Two NZ dotterel feeding near the reef. Shape of the beach had changed dramatically following big swells. Stream now extends down to the waterfall. Usual nesting spot had been inundated with seawater during storms.
Four NZ dotterel feeding on a sandy patch on the reef at low tide. Showing aggressive behaviour towards each other at times. See footprints http://naturewatch.org.nz/observations/5969490
