Mill Creek formerly cleared valley flat - bush edge, with deer browsed Polystichum vestitum
Dark black-brown bracket fungus, fan-shaped with a completely lateral black stipe. Slight depression at point of attachment of stipe. Slight radiating markings on surface of cap extending out to the wavy margin. Pored surface beige, pores very small and not really visible with the naked eye, about 6 pores/mm. Diameter of fruit body 5.7 cm. Remnant mature coastal broadleaf forest.
Clematis forsteri infected with powdery mildew. A reasonably common occurrence on the eastern side of Kapiti Island.
Common on rotting Salix lignum in mahoe (Melicytus ramiflorus subsp. ramiflorus) rock (basalt) forest growing above Te Auanga
Unusual looking, relatively large fruiting body, with little or no stem, growing on rotting wood. Size 20 mm by 12 mm. Pores on lower surface also unusually large.
