Possible Diplolepis nodulosa gall on Rosa gymnocarpa modified/enlarged by the inquiline, genus Periclistus.
Near the start of the Ipiwa Trail near Alpine Pond at Skyline Ridge OSP.
To note: @garth_harwood saw something of a similar nature nearby in 2021 at Hidden Villa. Otherwise not much in the way of observations around here except a couple others. I did see it mentioned in Russo 2021 so I'm not surprised. I think you have to be on the lookout.

~1.5 mm body. Was preening for quite awhile on an aphid-infested young Erigeron canadensis plant. Appeared to have a thin egg yolk like substance on the mesosoma dorsal. Hyperparasitoids of Braconidae (Aphidiinae) and Aphelinidae (Aphelininae).
