10 mins uphill of the large mature kahikatea. Ca 250mm diameter. No other matai seen at this site.
Thought I would amuse myself today by wandering the road to see how much aruhe I could spot and saw this on my own property which I have not noticed before. I am hoping this is it, or it can be ID from this single photo. If not I will fern bash to get into it and get photos of the underside LOL

2 Kereru spotted in back garden
Kereru on a nest in a coastal karaka. Three kereru were feeding in a kowhai above the karaka. Two flew to a nearby exotic tree for a few minutes, then one bird, (larger one on the right in the last image), flew down into the karaka. Could hear the bird making soft, regular 'oos', and found it on the nest. Thinking it was possibly the male on the nest. NZ Birds Online says 'In general, females incubate from late afternoon until mid-morning, when the male takes over.'
Growing in reserve next to Raglan harbour.
Behind the Red Sheds, Oamaru port.
