On the edge of a creek.
In culvert. Survey conducted as part of statewide cooperative effort led by Nick Sharp (ADCNR). ID’ed by @nicksharp. Proper PPE and decon measures taken.
I believe it was a eastern spotted skunk. But it looked like it was mainly black with white on the head. Around 4:35 PM in the evening while taking a country Drive. And this little guy was on the edge of an Orange Grove. It was pretty cool to see. I think this is the first skunk that I have ever seen in Florida. And I go on country rides constantly.
Discovered lying on its back on gravel trail, in pine forest at about 55 degrees F. Active but slow, as if semi-torpid. No visible injuries. Moved it off trail. Note furred tail membrane.
