Alive under a shaded rock ledge at mid tide. Many small clumps.
those weird little goise barnaclevthings that are worth a fortune in Europe and tasye terrible
By the time I got around into Breaker Bay, from Seatoun, the mussels have given way to these, I don't really know what they are!
Field Notes - Found under the rocks in the small caves at Tawharanui Beach. Low tide.
Found high up on the back wall of a shallow dark cave in the splash zone. See observation 9059163 for a better image.
These were initially spotted by @indeynz at the back of a cave on the cliff face. There were about 6 feet above the ground right at the back, below other barnacles but sadly those photos did not come out. Water continously was dribbling down. It is obvious in this cave that at high tide the cave would be flooded and the water level would come up the back wall.
Totally stoked to find these as I have not seen them before.
Also a new northern record for NW and gbif if this reaches research grade :)
