Two chicks have now fully fledged. They are still hanging out with their parents who are still protecting them from black backed gulls and banded dotterels and trying to protect them from humans and dogs. These are the first NZ dotterel to nest successfully in the Wellington region for decades.
Found growing naturally in bush by Taramakau river and also beside house in the area. Not planted there by long term owners. Could be a spleenwort but I cannot find any reference identifying it.
Growing under shade in fresh wood chip Hakanoa St Park grey Lynn. Slightly slimy outer layer that easily peels off. Like little egg shaped pods
