Epilobium species in Battersea Park, London, England, and Epilobium hybrids in the United Kingdom

Epilobium hybrids

I have added a "Plant hybrid" field for plants which may be natural Epilobium hybrids. The possible values are "Yes", "Possibly", "No", "Too little information" and "Under consideration". I have populated this field for European Epilobium records of named Epilobium hybrids, or records which I have found which mention "hybrid" in the Notes or "confused+stigma" in the Comments. This is the link:

Alternatively this link shows a summary of the records of possible Epilobium hybrids observed in Europe, including the value of the "Plant hybrid" Observation field:

(It will be possible for other users to use this Observation field for different taxa, but the alternative of using a Project is more complicated as that does not work so easily for tentative hybrids.)

It is only possible to search for Epilobium hybrids which have been identified by using the Identify portal. The following links may be helpful:

I used these links to search for tentative hybrids:

A summary of records of Epilobium species and Epilobium hybrids on Inaturalist, including hybrid formulae and links to NBN Atlas and GBIF is here:

Battersea Park, London, England

The following Epilobium species may be growing within a 60 metre radius in Battersea Park:

  • Epilobium ciliatum
  • Epilobium montanum
  • Epilobium parviflorum
  • Epilobium hirsutum
  • Epilobium obscurum
  • Also perhaps, hybrids of some of the above

My photos of Epilobium in this area are here, but these photos do not cover the full range of features in every record. I plan to take better photos in 2025.

Some of the above records have helpful comments from @josscarr, whose assistance is gratefully acknowledged.

Here is are my most plausible records of each species, or possible hybrids, in Battersea Park.
