Nature Walk 3: 11/2/19

I went for a walk on Saturday around the Reservoir at Boston College. I started at about 5:00 pm and walked for about 40 minutes. My friend Justin and I walked almost fully around the reservoir during the 40 minute time period. When we started the walk, we were overwhelmed by the number of birds we saw on the trail that leads to the reservoir. They were all gathered together as if they were meeting. As we walked around the reservoir, it was a challenge at first to find animals other than ducks and swans. However, once we directed our attention to the non-water side of the trail, we started to hear noises of small animals moving through the woods. Listening for their movements, we spotted several chipmunks throughout our walk. I was surprised that in all my times walking the reservoir I have never seen a chipmunk and on Saturday I saw about 5. The sun began to set around the time we finished our walk and the weather was in the mid-50s.

Nature walk 10/14/19

I went on a nature walk with my mom and dog around my neighborhood. We walked through the Wissahickon trail and observed many plants. We walked during sunset which I liked because the trees were illuminated by the sunlight. The weather was nice, around 65 degrees. My dog enjoyed getting extended time outside since I usually walk her for shorter than 30 minutes. The plants I observed were fairly common and unsurprising for the area. I appreciate that I am now able to name many of the plants that I see on my neighborhood trail.

Nature Walk

Went for a walk today around the Reservoir at Boston College. I embarked at about 4:30 pm and walked for about 40 minutes. My friend Justin and I walked almost fully around the reservoir during the 40 minute time period. We took turns recording the observations we found as our own. I have been to the reservoir many times but never realized the biological diversity present there. For example, whenever I see a bird on the water I assume it is a duck, but the observation feature suggested that there were multiple species of birds on the reservoir. The multitude of tree species was also something I found to be surprising. Overall, the walk was a great opportunity to explore a familiar area with greater awareness.
