Went out looking for hawks and newt, found hawks but no newts. Was nice to be reminded that the Bay Area is indeed in the Pacific Northwest (and not Nevada) with all this rain. Fetid Adder's Tongue are up and in Bloom!

Was pouring rain pretty much the whole time but luckily I brought an umbrella.

These steams were bone dry most of the last year - awesome to see them looking so lush

rain stopped for a bit an unsaddled the girl to catch a Ligidium

second time I've found these, and both times were under logs quite up above and well away from the creek as opposed to the other Ligidium the co-occur with which are down in the creek bed itself

@kueda - any idea why iNat is rotating these Flickr photos (uploaded through the Flickr iOS app)? I left in the links to Flickr in case thats helpful

Very nice scenery shots. Looks like you had fun and had a little helper. :-) Do you mind if I ask where you were at?

ha thanks, Phoenix lake which is part of the Marin Municipal Water District near Mt. Tam. One of my favorite nearby spots

Ha-ha -- I wonder if your daughter will grow up to love isopods as well... ;)

Great observations, Scott!

Nice. I'll have to check it out sometime. Good luck next time you try to find some newts. :-)

The iPhone (and most smartphones) never actually take photos in portrait orientation, they just take them in landscape and embed an Orientation EXIF tag. Flickr uses this to make copies that are rotated correctly and strangely, and most browsers will rotate it correctly on the fly if you just look at the image by itself, e.g. https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1624/24487177951_cfb44933f4_o.jpg, but they will not rotate it correctly if you view the image in HTML. Try using one of Flickr's reprocessed image URLs instead of the original photo file, e.g. https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1624/24487177951_aaed4f7681_b.jpg
