Vireos (Genus Vireo)

Description

While we were looking at this mulberry tree, someone spotted this hanging pouch nest built in a forked branch. Vireos build nests like this. Breeding vireos on the preserve include Red-eyed, Yellow-throated, and White-eyed. This nest was 20-30 feet high. Taken during Diane Sherrill's tree and shrub class field trip to HCC's Nalle Bunny Run.
