October 17th (Nature Walk #4) - Plants!!

On this nature walk I ventured to Edmands Park, directly behind (or attached to) the Newton Campus. The weather outside was delightful, with the sun shining and a minor breeze attached to it as it was only 65 degrees outside. I started walking around 4:50 and came across a multitude of different plants. There were different trails that were available to walk around. I walked along one of the longer trails that allowed for me to see different types of plants, including a few traces of poison ivy. Although, most of the plants seemed to be going into their dormant stages. At the end of this walk I was able to find various leaves that had evident distinctions from them and other plants (either small or big).

October 7th (Nature Walk #3) - Fungi!!

For this nature walk, the theme revolved around fungi! I went to the back of Newton Campus near Edmands Park to search for any form of fungi that I could find. The weather was quite nice, while it was in the 50s and sunny I still needed a slight jacket and made sure to wear appropriate footwear. When observing different types of fungi, it is quite interesting to see the different places where they might take shelter/reside in. As we were walking, we came across a tree that seemed to have mushroom growing out of its trunk. Once I saw that I was pretty intrigued because it almost made it seem like the tree itself had splinters. As the walk progressed, it was quite difficult to decipher whether an organism was a fungi or not. On top of that, the wild organisms seemed to grow in secluded areas throughout the park which made it more difficult to take pictures or get close to the organisms. Overall, this nature walk was successful, given I was able to find different forms of fungi and further educating myself.

September 27 (Nature Walk Entry #2)

I walked along the outside of Boston College and Newton Campus,. The weather during this time was nice and sunny for the first portion of the time; however, it soon changed with a gush of wind that brought on a strong chill. Along this pathway I saw a lot of greenery, and a few other individuals. When I went to a section with a multitude of flowers, I was greeted with several bees that were pollinating the flowers. It was cool to see them in action and just reminded me about when we were learning about pollination in high school Biology. There were also many spider webs entwined with the flowers, but I did not see any visible spiders. Overall, this was a good second nature walk.

Nature Walk Entry #1 (9/17/19)

During this nature walk, I ventured to Boughton Garden on Suffolk & Woodman road, not too far away from the main campus of Boston College. The weather was sublime, it was ranged from the high 60s to the low 70s during the time of the walk. There was no rain which enabled me to enjoy the walk more thoroughly, while admiring the nature along the way. I was able to see a dash of insects, but it was mainly comprised of plants and fungus. There was a brief section that contained several different flowers, therefore I was able to see many bees pollinating the flowers and eventually catching a shot of the event. I've got to admit that that was certainly one of the highlights of the walk. Although this was certainly interesting, I carefully made my way to the other sections of the garden. Afterwards, I was able to find a pond which had a few frogs and gnats flying about, however, I was unable to catch a shot of those critters. There were several sections of the garden that were mainly composed of plants and leaves, but it added to the scenic view of the walk.
