5 new observations

I took all of these throughout the natural parts of my neighborhood. Since I live in a hilly area, there are many naturally occurring plants all over. There's a park near my city hall that has a large natural area that I visited for most of my pictures, and a few I found in natural areas a block down from my street.

5 Natural Area Observations

I went to Twin Pines Park which is a small natural area near my house. Although there are man-made structures in the area, such as a playground and a few small city-government buildings, the greenery is not planted by humans. There are many tall trees in the area.

5 additional observations from natural open space

I walked within the first 100 feet of the entrance to the park and observed plants on either side of the path. The path was relatively flat and a clearing in the plants open up to a view of rolling green mountains and hills. Plants were everywhere and although where I was exploring the path was flat, I know that it becomes steeper and more hilly as you progress. There is a lake relatively nearby- hence the name of the park "Water Dog Lake." I think that I was in a woodland plant community.

Open Space Near Me

I went to Water Dog Lake Park which is a popular hiking area near where I live. Although it was difficult to reach some of the plants I was taking pictures of as they were all on the sides of the hiking path, I tried my best to choose those that weren't too close to the road or any man-made objects.

Street Tree Project

If I had to use one of the leaves as toilet paper, I would use the wide bright green lobed leaves.
Yes, I do believe that trees in the streets make the environment more pleasant.
A pro of planting non-native trees in neighborhoods is to add diversity and make the environment more aesthetically pleasing and modifiable. A con would be that non-native plants may be intrusive and may affect the native plants and habitats of animals that live there.
