The moth was about 1.5 inches in length and was not very big in width. It had a camoflauged body color consisting of blacks and browns. The moth looked almost like the shape of a little piece of multch or a small piece of bark from a tree or stick. The side image really shows off the wings of the organism and you can see it's little face with it's black beaty eyes and front antenas. Moths are apart of the taxonomy group called Lepidoptera, one defining characteristic of this insect group is that the moth has its visible wings tucked at it's side. An Owlet Moth is a "large worldwide group of more than 20,000 species of triangular, stout-bodied nocturnal lepidopterans," (Britannica). The Owlet Moth was found in a tall plant on the inside of one of the leaves. The Noctuids are found worldwide, but a mass majority of it's species such as Owlet Moths are found in North America.
