Four-banded Stink Bug Wasp (Bicyrtes quadrifasciatus)Observer

Large colony (100+ individuals) of sand wasps at the park all flying inches above sand. Large individuals (females?) would land and try to dig a hole. Small individuals (males?) would bombard the digging individual and sometimes form a ball (mating ball?) They would rarely stop for more than 2 seconds so not great photos.
