I was taking a photo of another pair ovipositing and when I pulled back to move on I noticed this couple even closer to me and apparently not disturbed by my proximity.

Male Sympetrum ambiguum

I saw males of three Sympetrum species at this park for the first time (S. ambiguum, S. corruptum, S. vicinum).

I had a migraine so I went home and ended up taking a nap and returning to the park later. When I returned there were tons of people there and our planet's minuscule movement in relation to the sun altered the previously favorable conditions--I only saw a few S. corruptum.

Male Sympetrum vicinum

I was walking around the pond and noticed what I assumed must be a male Sympetrum corruptum that was acting "calmer" than usual. Upon closer inspection it revealed itself to be a male S. vicinum

I have only seen this species at the park one other time (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/9478976), nearly 13 years ago to the date. As with last time, I only saw one male. I hung out a bit to try and get better shots before moving on.

Very cool to see...I had never seen this type of odonate parasite in the area I currently live. Unfortunately I had other people with me on this walk who weren't as impressed so I settled for a few quick shots.
