Description

Growing amongst bryophytes in remnant podocarp forest (kaihikatea-totara-rimu) with broadleaf. Some teatree in this part of the bush. Fruit body size is 1.5-4 cm in diameter and 6-10 cm in height. Cap smooth. Fruit body colour varies from grey to tan-brown. Stipe is cream-grey to cream-tan with longitudinal markings, not fibrous, increasing in diameter towards the base from 3-5 mm in diameter to 5-7 mm in diameter at the base. Gills grey-pink to tan-pink.

Description

Small Entoloma with a fibrous depressed cap. The gills are attached but pulling away. The gill edge is a darker blue. The stipe is also blue with no obvious caulocystidia. Cap size 14 mm in diameter and 37 mm in height. Growing amongst bryophytes on the ground in remnant kaihikatea-totara-rimu forest with broadleaf and some tea tree.

Entoloma which is notably tall. Cap size 11-23 mm in diameter and 80-93 mm in height. Stipe pale yellowish, 3 mm, tapering at base. No conspicuous caulocystidia. Description

This dark purple Cortinarius fruit body
was 28 mm in diameter and 75 mm in height. Growing in a scattered group including much larger fruit bodies on the forest floor with kanuka present. Remnant podocarp forest with broadleaf and some large tea tree.

Description

This scattered group of Leotia was growing on the forest floor amongst bryophytes with kanuka nearby. Fruit body size 13-16 mm in diameter and 42-50 mm in height. The cap colour was dark forest green to brown. The stipe is pale with green speckled jelly covering it. Remnant podocarp forest with broadleaf and some large tea tree.

Description

This small hydrocybe has a scarlet cap and most fruit bodies are very small (<10 mm). The largest fruit body seen here is 11 mm in diameter and 20 mm in height. The gills are paler yellow-orange in colour with a darker orange edge and are attached and descending down the stipe. The stipe is red and 1.5 mm in diameter. Growing in remnant podocarp forest with broadleaf (totara/kaihikatea/rimu).

Description

This small Entoloma species has a convex brown cap with a striate/sulcate margin with a darker centre with a depression. The fruit body size is 23-25 mm in diameter and 40-60 mm in height. The gills are attached at the base only and pulling away from the stipe and had a darker light brown edge. The stipe has blue tones and is 2-3 mm in diameter. Growing in a scattered group under totara in remnant podocarp forest (kaihikatea-totara-rimu) with broadleaf.

Description

This small Entoloma species was tan in colour with a depression in the centre of the cap. The cap was convex with a striate margin. Cap size was 11-20 mm in diameter and 32-40 mm in height. The gills were attached and pink and had a concolorous margin. The stipe was tan-yellow and 2-3 mm in diameter. Growing in a group amongst bryophytes in remnant podocarp forest (kaihikatea-totara-rimu) with broadleaf.

Description

This medium sized Entoloma was 37 mm in diameter and 55 mm in height. The cap was dark grey/purple in colour and splitting at the margin. The gills were beige-pink in colour and attached and notched with a concolorous edge. The stipe was purple and fibrous and 5 mm in diameter. Growing amongst bryophytes in remnant podocarp forest (kaihikatea-totara-rimu) with broadleaf.

Description

This species has large fruit bodies up to 110 mm in diameter. This cap photographed was 73 mm in diameter and 60 mm in height. The colour of the cap is light brown. The gills are attached and notched and beige-cream in colour. The stipe is stout and about 18 mm in diameter. Growing in remnant podocarp forest with broadleaf (totara/kaihikatea/rimu) and perhaps teatree.

This tiny bright red wax cap was growing in scattered groups on the ground amongst bryophytes and litter. The cap size is 4-8.5 mm in diameter and 20-30 mm in height. The gills are pale orange with a darker margin. They are attached and descending. The stipe is red-orange at the apex and paler in colour at the base, 1.5 mm in diameter and tapering at the base. Description

This medium sized light creamy-tan Entoloma has a broadly conical cap with a small darkened quite flat central papilla. The cap surface is smooth with a sulcate margin. The gills are narrowly attached at the base only, pulling away from the stipe. The stipe is silky white with an expanded base. The cap size is 30-50 mm in diameter and 70-90 mm in height. The stipe is 3-5 mm increasing to 6-8 mm at the base. Growing on the ground in remnant podocarp forest with broadleaf (totara/kaihikatea/rimu).

Description

This polypore was growing on old wood on the ground. It was large (20-30cm across) and lobed. Each lobe is about 1.5 cm thick. The fruit body is soft. The cap is tan-orange and the pored surface more orange with a hint of tan. The pores are deep, irregular in size and shape and although quite small have a honeycombed appearance. The pored surface does not change colour when bruised. The spores appear to be ornamented and pale coloured. Growing in remnant podocarp forest with broadleaf (totara/kaihikatea/rimu).

Description

Single Pluteus mushroom growing on fallen log in regenerating native bush which also had wood ear fungus growing on it. Fruit body size about 4 cm in diameter and 8 cm in height. More or less uniform in colour with quite pink gills and a cream-tan stipe.

Description

A large group of Stropharia but most had been badly eaten. The cap is fibrous with veil remnants around the cap margin. The larger cap size was 62 mm in diameter and about 80 mm in height. They were growing amongst litter on soil. I didn't check for rhizoids. The cap was orangy in colour with a fibrous surface. The stipe was creamy with some orange hints. The gills were attached. There was remnants of a ring towards the top of the stipe. Remnant podocarp forest (kaihikatea/totara/rimu) with boaadleaf.

This mushroom has a brown cap which is darker in the centre with light cream-tan coloured gills which turn grey-tan. The gills are attached with a notch. The stipe is lightly fibrous and grey-brown in colour, tapering at the base and off-centre. The larger fruit body is 4.5 cm in diameter and 7.2 cm in height.
