The latter were in the gully bottom (we've removed all plants there).
Similar to Syzygium paniculatum (https://inaturalist.nz/observations/94872740)
We'll keep this one until it confirms its identity by flowering (or someone else can do so).

Wild, in secondary forest vegetation on Mt Arthur group marble quartzite. About 10 km from 2 observations on Pupu Hydro walkway, one being https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/1232299 (@johnb-nz). The latter appear to be on granite.
