The stump remains of the last pingao in Sandfly Bay. It was still alive last year. This east headland of Sandfly Bay had a scattering of plants in the 1990's and there were successful plantings of pingao among the dunes done in that period by David Blair. To my knowledge all have died out. On the headland swamping vegetation of Lupin and Muehlenbeckia is the main reason. On the dunes, rabbits and Marram and Lupin.
