Description

Fresh water aquatic in a water trough.
Not quite sure what category to put this under.
At first I thought a Vampyrellidae of some sort but these don't have filopodia.
Suctorian ??
There's quite a lot in my samples, always round so I guess not amoeba.
Many seem to be attached to filamentous algae, so guessing they break through the cell wall to feed.
The brown colouring is ingested pigments ??
Plenty of questions no answers at present.

What

New Zealand Cabbage Tree Cordyline australis

Observer

grahame

Date

June 25, 2018

Description

Does anyone have an idea as to what is causing this on the Cabbage trees ?
The cause is possibly a white mildew or scale.
The leaves turn yellow at the base then wilt.
It's affecting trees in both wet and dry areas and is not confined to Travis.
I've seen it in other trees in the area.
It's spread quite a bit in the last couple of weeks.
