Description

Slime flux? Old post oak tree trunk.

From Wikipedia:
"Slime flux is a bacterial disease of certain trees. A wound to the bark causes sap to ooze from the wound. Bacteria may infect this sap causing it to darken and stain the bark, eventually taking on a foamy appearance and unpleasant odor. This slimy ooze becomes toxic to the bark and eats into the tree. Additionally, the fermented sap attracts insects like flies, ants, and maggots."

Description

Found 3 bird pellets on the boardwalk at John Bunker Sands (there were a LOT.) This is what was inside. ID for this observation should be for the animal that consumed this material. Feel free to point out any recognizable animals that were eaten and I'll separate them into different observations if appropriate.
