Fresh sapsucker wells in silver maple (?) bark.
Several other trees were also leaking sap, but the openings were too high for me to clearly see the openings to judge squirrel vs sapsucker.

This was an excellent example of how one animal's track can masquerade as another's. This was captured while out tracking with a group.
Looking at just the front tracks set together: this looks remarkably like a single deer track. However, these "deer tracks" were far too close together for a walking deer trail.
Looking at the whole pattern: this is a cottontail bound, with front tracks placed side by side, and hind tracks slightly further apart and ahead of the front compressions.
Looking at the big picture and not discounting evidence is vital for accurate track identification.

More reading is needed for me to be confident, but this looks like a wood chuck burrow to me. There were multiple holes like this, strung along this riverbank and well up from the water.
