Three images of a single bird. Large and notably long on the water, with grey-brown back, and elsewhere the same colour mottled or marked on white. Beak appears to be dark with a hooked point and with some white on it. The face and crown are grey with a darker area around the eye. The upper legs seen through the water appear to be dark. A single bird; no other sightings. Did not see it fly.

Five pictures of a sIngle bird feeding alone and apart from the wider company of WFHerons, pied stilts, oystercatchers, gulls, grey teal and godwits. On the tidal mudflats. Beak sturdy, blue-tinted or grey in some shots. Legs slightly pink, feet not webbed. Brown above and below, with some lighter marikings on the wing feathers and a faint white line on the head. I have never seen one in the area before. Larger than a banded dotterel, smaller than a gull or duck. Moves/runs very quickly.

Same grey/blue with brownish flecks as the rocks; very hard to see. Sitting, not feeding. Flew when disturbed then returned to same spot. Legs definitely orange or reddish pink. Beak grey-black. Eyes black. Dark bar behind eye. Top of head and back mottled black and light grey with some brown. Long grey wing feathers have a definite blue tint. Underparts all white.
