Keruru. Christchurch Botanic Garden, Native Garden.
The size of my fist,White/cream colour, underside photo attached. Found in the Native Garden in the Christchurch Botanic Garden on a log.
(leaves in photo are possibly not the same, it looked as if many of the logs had been bought to this area of the native garden)
Found in soil while forking up rhizomes in Christchurch botanic garden herbaceous border.
A poorly focused photo.....also seen Blue Damselfly and Sentry. However, relatively few damselflies on the several ponds at the Botanic Gardens. I have created 2 small ponds in England which have attracted 14 species, considerably in excess of the total NZ number of species. I am surprised by the minimal numbers of dragonflies one sees in NZ on apparently suitable water bodies....also why more species haven't flown over from Australia and become resident.
In the Curators Garden.
