We live next to a stream and this Dragonfly flew in the open house.
Some damage to its wings. Rather calm as it landed and waited to get outside. Didn't fly away straight away.

Nesting Terns in Whangarei Town basin. Top of poles. 3 poles with birds

Found a couple of these beetles on our Wander around Parihaka. Flew into our head torches.

Fish, Square head, blue lines on body, found in rock pools with large rocks, stiff fins below.

Flies and is no longer that 2cm.
Skinny moth. Yellow spots with red.

Grazing Gunieafowl . Living in the village green of the marina. Roost in the large Pohutukawa trees

Sunning itself on the jetty.
Looking for small fish and other things in the jetty. Flew off as I got closer.

Shag seen swimming around in the Whangarei Falls. Chasing prey. River water.

Prey of a Morepork

Approximately 7 of the birds swimming along side each other hunting small sprats in the Whangarei Harbour

Spotted sitting reeds in the Town Basin. Allowed me to get rather close before flying into the water and away.

Morepork sitting in a tree spotted with Kingfisher prey in its talon. It allowed me to get right bellow it to take the picture. Only about 2m away.
