What
Hummingbirds (Family Trochilidae)Observer
tristanmcknightDescription
I wasn’t sure what to call this hummingbird. The short bill and rather stippled throat make me think it’s a juvenile. But it was already independent— flying around a bunch and not being attended by any other hummingbird. Perhaps an immature female Anna’s?

For the wasp on this ootheca. I might have another photo or two, I'll check (but they're all this bad resolution).

What
Dusky Flycatcher (Empidonax oberholseri)Observer
tristanmcknightDescription
Any Empidonax buffs want to take a stab at this one? It never vocalized, and sadly my only photos showing the primary projection are distant digibins. But Nate’s impression in the field was dusky, and I could believe that the primary projection here is short enough to not be Hammond’s. But I am curious if others concur!
