Earshell Slug (Testacella haliotidea)Observer
xfionasmalxDescription
Slug found while gardening. I think this was quite deeply buried under soil. Found bunched up into a very tight oval. Very slow moving. Has some odd hard shaped thing at its rear. Very pale underside. Never seen one like this before. Would love any suggestions. Don't have a mollusc ID book!

xfionasmalxDescription
Taraire seeds. For a bit of fun - Images of a) purple ripe fruit of intact Pericarp, b) a digested (or degenerating?) pericarp and newly exposed mucilaginous layer and stone (endocarp and seed).
My question to anyone interested: Are the seeds (brown, smooth as in picture) in a pre-mucilaginous break down stage where the Pericarp has simply been desiccated or has it been removed by Kereru? I have sacrificed one of these precious seeds to check what layers are present - and it looks like it is intact but desiccated. see final photo.
